Best Overall 2000 Watt Generator
Yamaha EF6300iSDE 6,300 Watt Generator (357cc OHV 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Inverter)

Among the many advanced features are an electric start, wireless control, Noise Block and a pure sine wave inverter system.
We powered many demanding items with no problems. Electronic equipment, appliances and computers all ran together fine. The generator can also power a variety of power tools, too; both 120V and 240V tools are supported.
There were three ways to start the generator. The electric start worked great, and the battery is included. The automatic choke also started with ease. The wireless starter, which is optional, works from up to 66 feet.
We were also impressed with the variety of maintenance-related features the EF6300iSDE offers. The Low Oil Shutoff protects the engine from damage. This 2000 watt generator also features a Power Meter, which shows how much power is available, and an Hour Meter, which counts down to necessary refueling.
The Yamaha EF6300iSDE is CARB compliant. This means it is certified safe by the California Energy Board, and is safe to operate around humans. This isn’t just good for the environment and the health of your family, it also promotes a long engine life.

Best Portable 2000 Watt Gas Generator
All Power America APG3014 2000 Watt 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Generator
[easyazon_image add_to_cart=”no” align=”right” asin=”B00265M9TM” cloaking=”default” height=”130″ localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” src=”http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51mfKSzTmqL._SL160_.jpg” alt=”Portable 2000 Watt Generator” tag=”genergator-20″ width=”160″]This is one of the most portable gas generators we’ve ever seen. It’s specifically designed to go anywhere – tailgating, camping, mobile homes or as a backup power source for your home.
When we put it in a car truck, it took up less space than a tent and a sleeping bag. At home, it can easily fit into a closet or storage space. Outdoors, it’s rugged enough to handle a variety of storm conditions.
The four stroke engine provides up to 2000 watts of power. The generator has two AV 120V outlets and one 12V DC output. The unit is 8.5” by 14.2” by 15.4”.
The APG30142 runs for nine hours at half load on only 1.32 gallons of unleaded gasoline. That’s one of the most efficient models we found! It certainly contributes to the portability. At just 54 pounds, it’s very easy to transport the unit. Practically anyone can lift it in and out of a car, for instance.
We liked how quiet it was, too. At 68dB, the unit could run near outdoor activities without interfering with the ambiance or the conversation.

Best 2000 Watt Inverter Generator
Yamaha EF2000iS 2000 Watt 79cc OHV 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Inverter Generator
[easyazon_image add_to_cart=”no” align=”right” asin=”B002RWK9N2″ cloaking=”default” height=”137″ localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” src=”http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41RR92Yk2mL._SL160_.jpg” alt=”2000 watt inverter generator” tag=”genergator-20″ width=”160″]The quality of Yamaha and the clean burning ease of propane are an attractive combination. The EF2000iS was our favorite 2000 watt inverter generator. It’s powerful, sturdy and incredibly energy-efficient.
The innovative inverter system, with Pulse Width Modulation, generates up to 2000 watts of clean AC power. The generator produces sine waves, which are able to provide a consistent source of power. This means you can power delicate machinery without having to worry about unexpected overloads. This generator is also CARB compliant.
The generator recharges batteries with its 8A12V DC outlet, which can easily interact with most automobiles, RVs and boats. All part of this unit’s commitment to portability.
A portable generator needs to be quiet. The sound-blocking design, combined with the noise-absorbing glass and wool construction, means this generator sounds much quieter than its 51.5 dBA (tested at one quarter load). Our team stood roughly six feet away and, while you can hear the generator, it doesn’t interfere with a normal conversation.
A portable generator also needs to be lightweight. At forty-four pounds, it’s easy for most people to carry. It’s easy to use, too, with a central control panel.
Looking for more power? The EF2000iS can be hooked up to a second unit, and create additional output. This TwinTech technology is a pretty interesting feature we don’t see a lot of. It seems useful if you explore the outdoors or tailgate with a consistent group of people – your two groups could both buy an EF2000iS, and use them whenever you get together.
Many people like the clean energy produced by propane, as well as the easy storage available with propane tanks. If you’re looking for a 2000 watt propane generator, we recommend the Yamaha EF2000iS.

What Type of 2000 Watt Generator is Best for Me?
A 2000 watt generator can provide enough power to operate a wide variety of small devices, such as a laptop, lights, a radio, and other similar appliances. Two thousand watts might actually be a bit more than you need for a typical tailgate party, but there’s an advantage to the extra power. In the event of a blackout in your home, 2000 watts is enough power to keep your refrigerator running, as well as few other medium to large devices.
The units are small enough to be easily stored in a garage or other storage space. While you might never have an emergency, it’s still comforting to know your generator is there if you do. Important note: Never store your generator while it’s filled with fuel. This applies to both gasoline and propane. Also, you should be aware the gasoline can “go bad” after only a week or so unless you apply special stabilizer. By keeping your generator clean (and empty when stored) it’ll be ready to provide power whenever you need it.
